Doug Rees, Graduate Dean
Born in New Haven and raised in Kentucky, Doug Rees joined Caltech in 1989. After 40+ years of believing real scientists would never willingly become administrators, the opportunity to serve as Dean of Graduate Studies was too good for Doug to miss. At the centennial of Caltech's graduate program, it is an exciting time to be part of the Graduate Office as we work with our graduate students to launch the next 100 years of high impact discoveries. Outside of the Graduate Office, Doug enjoys spending time with his family and indulging his interests with varying degrees of proficiency in protein structure, nitrogen fixation, and rhythm guitar.
Kate McAnulty, Associate Graduate Dean
A Kentucky native, Kate joined Caltech in March 2016 after spending six years at Kent State University and eight years at the University of Louisville. In her role as Associate Dean, Kate works with graduate students and faculty across all divisions and is responsible for graduate student advocacy, advising, and programming; including Orientation. Associate Dean McAnulty enjoys traveling, watching and playing sports, and spending time with friends and family.
Natalie Gilmore, Assistant Graduate Dean
Originally from England, Natalie has worked within graduate studies for 30 years and enjoys watching all students grow as individuals, scientists and engineers. She considers herself lucky to be working alongside those whom she considers the brightest and most creative individuals in the world. Her primary focus is admissions, academic degree progress, and student support. When not helping students achieve their academic goals, Natalie enjoys shopping for English antiques, cooking, playing with her cats, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Claudia Andrade, Financial Analyst
A native of Ecuador, Claudia has over 15 years of budget and financial experience in higher education. At Caltech, she is in charge of managing the external fellowships along with the tuition process. Claudia enjoys outdoor recreation, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family.
Helen Duong, Recruitment, Outreach and Admissions Coordinator
Hailing from Northern California, Helen is the Recruitment, Outreach and Admissions Coordinator for the Graduate Studies Office. In keeping with our mission of building a diverse community, her focus is serving and fostering relationships with underrepresented minority students. Helen loves going on long runs, spending time on the mat practicing yoga, cooking elaborate meals, and watching NFL football.
