J. Yang Scholarship
J. Yang Scholarship
Each year, two Taiwanese graduate students of superior academic achievement are chosen for the J. Yang Scholarship. The generous gift from the J. Yang & Family Foundation supports their stipend, tuition and fees.
Caltech has a separate fellowship program for Taiwanese students through a partnership with the Taiwan Ministry of Education. To support and accommodate the largest possible number of Taiwanese students, those who receive support through Caltech's partnership with the Taiwan Ministry of Education will not be considered for the J. Yang Scholarship . Students in all six of Caltech's academic Divisions are eligible to apply. J. Yang Scholarship recipients are required to maintain satisfactory academic progress to remain eligible. Criteria include continuity of registration and minimum grade point averages specific to the course of study. Full-time graduate students are required to complete 36 academic units per term, and a total of 108 units each academic year.
Students from Taiwan are reviewed by the Graduate Studies Office and selected for the J. Yang Scholarship based on their academic qualifications as well as nominations from Caltech faculty. A letter of nomination from the candidate's research advisor outlining the candidate's eligibility and promise for research, along with the student's CV, are required. Nominations should be submitted to jyangscholar@caltech.edu.
