Commencement Events
The Graduate Studies Office hosts an annual celebration luncheon for families and friends of graduating Master's and PhD students. We also hold an award ceremony honoring graduating students who have made contributions to student life at Caltech.
Graduate Student Appreciation Week
Caltech's Graduate Student Appreciation Week (GSAW) is a week-long event that recognizes the important contributions of graduate students to our campus community and beyond. Celebrated nationally, Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week first began in 1993 and was developed by the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students. This year marks the third celebration at Caltech and will continue to feature a variety of events and programs offered in collaboration with various campus departments and stakeholders.
New Student Orientation
Our Orientation program for all new incoming graduate students takes place the week before the beginning of the term. The program starts with the campus-wide convocation, followed by mandatory graduate student information sessions, and concludes with the Teaching and Learning Conference. The Orientation program will consist of both prerecorded introductions to Caltech's resources, in-person events, and social activities with opportunities for students to meet and connect.
