This talk will focus on near-inertial waves and the ways in which principles from quantum mechanics – combined with the sparse observations available – can be leveraged to map the global behavior of near-inertial waves. Recent advances in satellite technology that may soon allow the observation of these waves from space unlocking new insights into their role in the climate system will also be explored.
